While the shift from disk to digital offers tremendous potential opportunities, it also presents a host of new challenges for gaming companies. As the online channel grows increasingly complex and the pace of innovation accelerates, many companies struggle to keep up. Not only are there websites and storefronts to manage, but also real-time gaming servers, large software downloads, and live-streamed competitions and events. Games are transforming from fixed, boxed products to dynamic, ongoing services – with frequently updated content, in-game micro-transactions, virtual goods and social interactions. Mobile adds another dimension to the trend, as consumers increasingly look to play on smart phones and tablets – or on multiple screens across devices. To successfully navigate this complex and changing landscape, gaming companies need an agile, high- performance infrastructure that allows them to turn the Internet into a reliable and effective online distribution channel. This requires f

Akamai recorded nearly 30 billion credential stuffing attacks in 2018. The vast majority of these fraudulent login attempts were performed by botnets or by all-in-one (AIO) applications using stolen credentials. January 2019 saw the public release of a massive collection of private credentials — more than 25 billion email address and password combinations. Though much of the user information was from older data breaches, the audacious data dump reflects the reality that the theft, abuse, and sale of username/password combinations is a thriving criminal business. In the new “State of the Internet / Security — Credential Stuffing: Attacks and Economies” Special Media Report, Akamai researchers dig into this trend, which has significant impacts for gaming, video, and entertainment companies. You’ll learn: • Why cheap tools and free tutorials lower the bar of entry for would-be criminals • How malicious actors turn data breaches into substantial profits on darknet markets • What busines

Security risks and breaches have become part of the daily landscape as companies and organizations of every size and in every vertical and industry announce that they have been compromised. In 2016 reported security breaches were up 40%, and this year is on pace to surpass that steep rise. Over the past year alone, there have been high-profile breaches in the gaming, financial services, hospitality, food service, consumer packaged goods, and retail sectors. Many of those breaches occurred due to vulnerabilities in applications and on websites. For example, this past April, the IRS announced a breach attributable to a tool designed to fetch data for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form.

The What, Why and How to Employ NAC to Apply Guest Networking, BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) and Endpoint Security Policies. Many of today's endpoints are neither known nor protected. According to Gartner, enterprises are only aware of 80 percent of the devices on their network. Those 20 percent of unknown devices are inside the perimeter of the network, are unmanaged and provide users with access. They are small, varied and highly mobile, and they are loaded with their own applications, can act as WAPs, and often contain outdated firmware or are jailbroken. Even as the devices are accessing personal applications on the web, they are also accessing corporate resources such as e-mail-all from the very same unmanaged devices, which have not been vetted by the security organization. Smartphones, notebooks, netbooks, iPads, e-readers, gaming consoles and more-the list of personal devices attempting access to employer networks seems to grow every day in what's come to be known as the BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) era in networking.

Day in and day out, organizations run their businesses with transactional applications and databases. A key to any transactional application—whether it is processing bank transactions, keeping a gaming platform in sync, or monitoring health conditions—is processing high volumes of data at high speed. Latency is particularly relevant to read- and write-intensive applications in the cloud, where database latency, plus latency created by network throughput, API/microservice calls, and other processes compound. There are a variety of databases available to the transactional application. Ideally, any database would have the required capabilities. This free 1-hour webinar from GigaOm Research brings together GigaOm analyst William McKnight and special guests from Microsoft, Senior Product Marketing Manager Debbie Lyons and Microsoft Principal Program Manager Joe Sack, to discuss the results from a GigaOm Analytic Field Test derived from the industry-standard TPC Benchmark™ E (TPC-E) to com
